Volleyball Loses At #20 Michigan Tech 3-1

INSIDE THE MATCH 

  • Michigan Tech appeared to be ready to take a 1-0 lead late in the opening set, holding leads of 23-17 and 24-21 when the Timberwolves rallied. Northwood had an 8-1 run that gave them a set point at 25-24. MTU came back to get their second set point at 27-26, only to see the Timberwolves score the final three points and take the opener 29-27.  Northwood hit .260 in the first set (19-6-50) compared to Michigan Tech at .292 (18-4-48).
  • The second set was tight through 20 points, with MTU leading 11-9. The Huskies then went on a 4-0 run to go up 15-9. NU got no closer than three points the rest of the set as MTU won 25-20. The defenses  were the story in the second, as NU hit just  .071 (9-6-42) while MTU finished at .109 (14-9-46).
  • Michigan Tech took control of the third set right away, scoring eight of the first 10 points. The biggest run of the set came with the Huskies leading 14-9, as MTU claimed the final 11 points to take the third 25-9. Michigan Tech hit .321 (11-2-28) while holding Northwood to -.108 (6-10-37).
  • The fourth set was level at 10-10 when Michigan Tech scored five straight and eight of the next nine points to take control at 18-11. The Timberwolves got no closer than five points the rest of the way. Northwood ended the fourth set at .134 (11-6-37). Michigan Tech hit .211 (14-6-38) in the final set.
