Bio

James Goodridge became the fourth head coach in Northwood Volleyball history in April of 2014. The 2015 season will be his second as head coach.

“We are excited to have James as the new leader of our volleyball program,” said Athletic Director Dave Marsh.  “He is energetic, has great knowledge of the game, and has been involved with winning programs throughout his career.”

Goodridge comes to Northwood with a variety of coaching experiences. He spent the 2013 season with the University at Buffalo as an assistant with the women’s program, helping the Bulls to one of their best seasons in school history with an 18-12 record. Prior to his time at Buffalo, Goodridge was the head coach for both the men’s and the women’s program at Lees-McRae College.  He was the head coach for the men’s program for two plus seasons while he served as the women’s head coach for the 2012 season. Goodridge guided Lees-McRae’s men’s team to one of its best seasons in 2011, as the team finished with a 16-10 overall record while posting three victories over Division I opponents.

As a part of the Lees-McRae NCAA Division II women’s program, Goodridge enjoyed a great deal of success as both an assistant coach and as a head coach. Prior to his appointment as the head coach of the program, he was an assistant coach for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.  During those two seasons, the Bobcats posted a perfect 36-0 record in Conference Carolinas play.

Goodridge joined Lees-McRae after spending a year at conference rival Mount Olive College. He spent six months as the men’s and women’s interim head coach and six months as an assistant coach. Goodridge also was an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s programs at Springfield College.

“I’d like to thanks Athletic Director Dave Marsh and President Pretty for the opportunity to be the next head coach at Northwood University,” said Goodridge. “The program has seen much success in the past and it is an honor to be selected to lead this group of great young women. I look forward to the challenges of building upon the past success and taking the program to the next level.”

A graduate of Florida State University in 2006, Goodridge started his coaching career while attending FSU. He was the Seminoles head coach of the men’s club team while in Tallahassee. He graduated with a degree in Sports Management from FSU and later earned his Master’s in Sport and Fitness from Central Florida.
