Smith Leads Men's Cross Country To Second Place Finish At Warrior Challenge

OVERVIEW – WARRIOR CHALLENGE

LOCATION: Willow Metropark – Detroit, Mich.

RECAP: Northwood men's and women's cross country traveled to Wayne St. (Mich.) for the Warrior Challenge (September 13). Northwood's men took home second and women took eighth.

INSIDE THE WOMEN'S RACE (6,000 METERS)

• NU's women placed eighth with 214 points. The race included 100 athletes from 13 teams. Wayne St. (Mich.)  won the race with 40 points while Hillsdale came in second with 55.
• Junior Rachael Sierakowski was the Timberwolves' best finisher, taking 23^rd overall in 23:58.6.
• Northwood's top-5 average time was 25:35 with a total time of 2:07.55 and a spread of 3:21.

NORTHWOOD RESULTS:

• Rachael Sierakowski: 23^rd – 23:58.6
• Katherine Haupt: 41^st – 24:50
• Kaylee Aultman: 64^th – 25:42
• Riley Hacker: 69^th – 26:04.7
• Landry Koski: 95^th - 27:20.3
• Alyssa Dorn: 99^th – 27:53.6

INSIDE THE MEN'S RACE (8,000 METERS)

• NU's men took second with 89 points. The race included 100 athletes from 14 teams. The Top three teams included Hillsdale taking first with 62 points and Wayne St. (Mich.) taking third with 90.
• Both teams from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) (Hillsdale and Northwood) were the meets top-finishing teams.
• Junior Sam Smith led Northwood, placing tenth overall in 25:56.70
• Northwood's top-5 average time was 26:12 with a total time of 2:11.0 and a spread of 37 seconds.

• Baraka Sila: 14^th – 26:00.1
• Lucas Oberle: 16^th – 26:02.7
