Cross Country Competes At The Lewis Crossover

LOCATION: Lewis Cross Country Course – Romeoville, Ill.

RECAP: Northwood men's and women's cross country traveled to Romeoville, Ill., for the Lewis Crossover on Saturday (October 12)

INSIDE THE MEN'S RACE (8,000 METERS)

  • Northwood men's cross country took 25th out of 36 teams competing at the event with 692 points.
  • 13 of the nation's top-30 ranked teams competed at the event, with No. 3 Colorado School of Mines taking the top spot with 62 points. No. 11 Western Washington placed second with 123 points, followed by No. 18 Colorado Christian earning third with 194.
  • Preston Earl (25:01.1) and Jacob Wartenberg (25:25.72) led the Timberwolves, taking 74th and 125th out of the 387 athletes competing. Wartenberg's record race jumps him into 13th place in the Northwood top-25 performers list for the 8K.
  • Northwood's top-five racers totaled a 2:07.48 race with an average time of 25:33 for a 52-second spread.

NORTHWOOD RESULTS:

INSIDE THE WOMEN'S RACE (6,000 METERS)

  • Northwood women's cross country placed fourth overall with 106 points in the women's 6000m open. The women took fourth out of 13 teams competing in the event.
  • Rachael Sierakowski led the Timberwolves, placing seventh overall (23:49.60) out of the 100 racers.
  • Northwood's top-five runners totaled a 2:04.00 race with an average time of 24:48 for a 2:04 spread.
