Bio

Jim Knapp coached a total of twenty three NAIA All Americans in fourteen different events in his ten years as Northwood's Track and Field Coach. Northwood had a total of four NAIA national champions in his time as well as one NCAA Division II National Champion and All American and one NCAA Division I All American. In 1985 Knapp guided Northwood to both the GLIAC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field championships receiving Coach of The Year honors for both seasons. While guiding the Northwood men's team to unprecedented success Knapp also founded the Women's track and field program at Northwood in 1984 and coached Northwood's first female All American in any sport. Following his Northwood career Knapp went on to Central Michigan University where he has been named the Mid American Conference Coach of the Year eight times. Knapp is also a member of the Ferris State University Hall of Fame and the Big Rapids Sports Hall of Fame.
