Daren Kench was a standout for the Northwood University men’s golf team in the late 90’s. He was the GLIAC Player of the Year, as well as the GLIAC Champion as a junior in 1996, when he shot 231 over three rounds. In addition, Kench earned National Scholar Athlete of the Year honors in 1997-98. A two-time Academic All-American, Kench led Northwood to a pair of top-three finishes in the GLIAC in his three seasons on the team. He led the team in scoring average all three years, with a career best average of 75.8 his senior year. He earned GLIAC All-Academic honors three times in his career, and was a three-time All-GLIAC performer.
