Bio

Markus Kaempfer led the Northwood men’s tennis team to new heights in his career, finishing his career as a two-time All-American. The 2002 GLIAC Player of the Year, Kaempfer played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for a Northwood team that finished third at the NCAA Championships. That remains the highest finish for any sport at the NCAA level in school history. Kaempfer finished 2002 ranked 15th nationally in singles and 3rd in doubles with partner Oskars Vaskis. In 2001, Kaempfer was named the Midwest Player to Watch, leading Northwood to a final national ranking of 14. He earned First Team All-GLIAC honors in both seasons as a Timberwolf. Markus is the brother of fellow Hall of Fame inductee Carina Kaempfer Groenen.
