Bio

Bill Chandler was one of the first great football players at Northwood.  In 1973, he joined Bill Smithingell as the first two football All-Americans in school history, as Chandler was named to the Kodak College Division team.  One year later, Chandler became the first football player to earn the honor twice as he was named to the NAIA Division II First Team All-America team.  A stout defensive tackle and four-year letterwinner, Chandler’s efforts were a key part of Northwood claiming the first team Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships ever awarded.  Northwood’s defense was a key part of those title teams, allowing just 13.8 points per game over the 18 games played.  Only one team in those two seasons scored more than 20 points in a game against Northwood.
