Prior to the start of the 1996 football season, Northwood signed a deal with WMPX in Midland to carry all of the NU games live on the radio. The person who became the voice of Northwood football was Gary Williams, who served in the role as play-by-play man for 18 years. During that time, Williams announced nearly all of the 193 games played with partner and fellow Northwood Hall of Famer Larry Lindsey. Williams was on the mike for three GLIAC Championship teams and three NCAA Playoff games. He was also a contributor to Northwood Football Weekly and was a key part in the growth of the program. Williams’ hard work, dedication and commitment to Northwood Football will always be fondly remembered by everyone associated with the program.
