Jack Ammerman & Sydni Harding Earn GLIAC Commissioner Awards

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University Athletic Department had a pair of student-athletes earn Commissioner Awards from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Wednesday afternoon (July 21).

Jack Ammerman from the men's basketball team earned the honor from the winter season, while Sydni Harding from the women's golf team was named from the spring season.

The awards are presented to student-athletes from the Fall, Winter, and Spring athletic seasons. Six females and six males from each season are awarded on the basis of excelling both in the classroom and on the fields of play.

Ammerman picked up Second Team All-GLIAC honors this season for Northwood, Ammerman led Northwood and ranked eighth in the GLIAC in scoring at 16.5 points per game. He also ranked fifth in the league in 3-point percentage (44.2 percent) and seventh in 3-point field goals made (38). Ammerman scored in double figures in each of the team's final 17 games of the season. In all, Ammerman ranked in the top 10 in the GLIAC in six different categories. He also holds the Northwood school record for free throw percentage in a season (92.7 percent) and ranks third in school history with 73 3-pointers made in a season. He is a Management major with a 3.596 GPA.

Harding earned First Team All-GLIAC honors this season, marking the third time in her career she has been named All-GLIAC. Harding had in her best season as a Timberwolf, with her scoring average of 75.9 being the lowest in school history. She finished in the top third of all seven of the events this season, including winning the NC4K Classic. For the season, Harding ended the year with an individual winning percentage of .847 (436-79). She qualified as an individual for both the NCAA East Regional and the NCAA Championship. Harding is the only player in program history to reach the NCAA Championships twice. She is an Operations & Supply Chain Management major with a 3.675 GPA.
