Bio

The 1998 Northwood University men’s tennis team became the first program in school history to reach the Final Four at the NCAA level. Northwood finished the season 20-7 overall and claimed its fourth straight GLIAC Championship with a perfect 8-0 record. In the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, Northwood defeated fourth-ranked Armstrong Atlantic 5-3 to earn the school’s first-ever appearance in the national semifinals. NU was led by Marek Kolar, who was the first men’s tennis player to ever be inducted into the Northwood Hall of Fame. He was named the GLIAC Player of the Year, finishing the year ranked No. 10 nationally and partnered with Remco Lambers for the No. 12 doubles team.
