Baseball Loses Pair To Hillsdale

The Northwood University baseball team dropped a pair of games Wednesday afternoon (April 17) to Hillsdale.  The Chargers won game one 3-0 before posting a 3-1 win in game two.

Northwood is now 12-18 overall, 7-12 in the GLIAC.  Hillsdale improves to 15-18 overall, 8-12 in the GLIAC.

The opener was the continuation of a contest that was suspended at Hillsdale last week with the Chargers leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning.  Hillsdale plated a pair of runs in the third on a pair of RBI singles.  Northwood managed just a pair of singles in the contest.  Jake Winicki (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) allowed one earned run in five innings of relief work on the day.

Game two saw the Chargers plate single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to take a 3-0 lead.  Northwood got on the board in the sixth with a sacrifice fly by Wayne Moak (Marysville, Mich.).  The Timberwolves got a pair of runners on in the seventh but were unable to tie the game.

Northwood will host Tiffin this Saturday and Sunday (April 21-22).
