Baseball Places Three On All-GLIAC Teams

2016 All-GLIAC Baseball Teams

BAY CITY, MICH. – The Northwood University baseball team placed three players on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) team, the league announced Wednesday night (May 11).

Senior Cody Kuzniczci (Madeira, Ohio / Northern Kentucky U.) was named Second Team All-GLIAC as a catcher. Junior relief pitcher Shawn Larner (Gladwin, Mich. / Alma College) and junior third baseman Daniel Pulver (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) both were named Honorable Mention.

In his lone season at Northwood, Kuzniczci was a force for the Timberwolves. He led the team in batting average (.363), slugging percentage (.549), runs scored (46), hits (70), doubles (18), home runs (six) and total bases (106). Kuzniczci finished ranked on the all-time single-season Northwood list in the following categories: hits – second, doubles – second, extra base hits – five, and total bases (third).

Larner was tremendous out of the bullpen for the Timberwolves this season, finishing the year with a 1.78 ERA, two wins and five saves. He tied the Northwood school record by appearing in 21 games this season, matching the mark set by Jason Moczul in 1999. Over the last two seasons, Larner has posted a 2.24 ERA in 39 appearances.

Pulver started all 49 games for Northwood at third base this season. He finished the season with a .310 batting average with nine doubles, five triples and 42 RBIs. Pulver led the team in triples, RBIs, games played and games started this season. His five triples ranked second in the GLIAC and are the second-most at Northwood while his 42 RBIs rank seventh in Northwood history.

Northwood finished the season 25-24 overall.
