GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

• After Connor Foley got it started with a one-out double off the left field wall, Daniel Pulver singled him in on a ground ball to left lifting the Timberwolves to a 1-0 lead after the first.
• The one run was all starter Tyler Jandron needed as the Timberwolve's ace mowed down opposing hitters and chalked up his league-leading ninth victory with a complete game shutout of the Cavaliers in a true "pitcher's duel."

RECAP: Timberwolves outlast Cavaliers, Palmer hits walk-off home run in thrilling record-breaking 31^st win of season.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

• Walsh gained their first lead of the day with a run in the top of the first. After the Cavaliers got back-to-back hits to begin the inning with a 2nd-3rd scoring threat, Matt Pearsall limited the damage to a 1-0 deficit giving up an RBI groundout by Andrew Stalnaker and nothing more.
• The second also started off with a bang for the Cavaliers, as Jordan Grubb smacked a solo home run to left field extending the lead to 2-0.
• Northwood cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second after loading the bases with one out thanks to Pulver walking, Javier Martinez singling and Kyle Ziegler reaching on an error. Robert Spencer reached on a fielder's choice to second base allowing Pulver to score to make it 2-1.
• Walsh answered Northwood in the top half of the third inning in a big way. Stalnaker played longball like Grubb did the inning before smacking a 2-run shot to extend the lead to 4-1 after Eric Conner's single earlier in the inning.
• Northwood threatened again in the bottom of the third getting runners at first and third with one out thanks to a Richie O'Neil walk and David Vinsky single. Pulver did the job with a deep fly ball to center scoring O'Neil on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.
• In a game of counterpunches, Walsh again answered Northwood with the long ball, this time from Luke Caple. He hit a two-run shot to left field extending the lead to 6-2.
• Travis Janes got a fifth inning rally started with a single to center. He was moved to second on an O'Neil sacrifice bunt setting up a Vinsky RBI single that chipped the lead to 6-3.
• The seventh proved to be a turning point in the game. With the Timberwolves down by three, O'Neil and Foley reached setting the table for David Vinsky. The freshman then knocked a two-run triple past a diving Grubb to right field cutting the lead to 6-5. Martinez followed with a one-out sacrifice fly to tie the game at six.
• With the game tied at six, the Timberwolve's bullpen continued to dominate, most notably Lennon Gwizdala in six innings of work from the ninth inning on. The sophomore set down the first 12 batters he faced en route to allowing zero runs on two hits from the ninth inning to the 14th.
• After both teams threatened several times in extra innings, Nick Palmer provided the heroics in the bottom of the 14th. After Martinez got on with a single, Palmer crushed a two-run shot to left to win the game in walk-off fashion and set a school record for wins in a season, and springboard the Timberwolves into sole possession of first place in the GLIAC.

GAME 2 NOTES

• Northwood's bullpen held Walsh hitless from the fifth to the 13th inning without a hit until Gwizdala surrendered a leadoff single to James Thomas, his only hit allowed in 5 innings.
• Before April 19th, Palmer had 2 RBI and zero home runs on the season. Since, he has eight hits, three home runs, and 12 RBI.
• Javier Martinez has hit safely in five of his last six games, getting four multi-hit games in that span.
