Baseball Finishes Weekend Sweep Over Parkside On Senior Day

RECAP: Baseball finishes weekend sweep over Parkside on senior day Sunday afternoon (May 9), taking game one 5-1 before earning a 13-1 victory in the nightcap.  

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Northwood got on the board in the opening inning without registering a hit. Jacob Rybicki walked, stole second and later scored on a passed ball to put the Timberwolves up 1-0.
  • Lawson Burnett pushed the lead to 3-0 on a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Rangers got on the board in the top of the sixth inning to put the score at 3-1.
  • NU got a pair of insurance runs in the sixth on an error to make the final 5-1.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • The Rangers started fast in game two, hitting a solo home run on the first pitch of the game to go up 1-0.
  • Northwood got on the board in the second, starting with a Logan Briggs RBI single.
  • Jacob Rybicki followed with a two-run single to put the Timberwolves on top for the first time in the game.
  • NU then made it 4-1 on a David Jeffers RBI groundout.
  • The Timberwolves extended the lead in the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly from Michael Karam.
  • Later in the inning, Rybicki hit a two-run homer to left to get the lead to 7-1.
  • Rhett Evans brought home Matt Magno with an RBI double in the fifth.
  • NU added three more runs in the sixth, thanks to a run-scoring single by Cole Brooks and a two-run double by Evans to make the score 11-1.
  • Blake Salamon brought home another run in the bottom of the eight on an RBI single.
  • A Connor Kin RBI groundout rounded out the scoring
