RECAP: Northwood baseball opened its 2021 season with a pair of losses against Tiffin, as the Dragons earned late-inning wins by the scores of 4-3 and 10-5 Saturday afternoon (February 12).

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

• Northwood got on the board first in the bottom of the third thanks to a solo home run by Joey Johnston.
• The Timberwolves extended their lead in the fourth on a Johnston run-scoring double.
• Tiffin tied the score in the top of the fifth, making the score 2-2.
• NU went back on top in the sixth on a RBI single by David Jeffers.
• The Dragons earned a comeback win in the seventh without the benefit of a hit. Tiffin scored a pair of runs, thanks to four walks and a wild pitch.
• Northwood got a single in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to plate the tying run.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

• Tiffin got on the board first in the nightcap in the top of the third inning on an error to go up 1-0.
• Northwood tied the score in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Myles Beale RBI double.
• The Dragons used a pair of doubles in the sixth to take a 3-1 lead.
• Johnston got the Timberwolves back with one in the bottom of the sixth with a run-scoring double.
• Rhett Evans leveled the score in the seventh with an RBI single, sending the game to the eighth tied at 3-3.
• Much like in game one, Tiffin put together a late rally in the eighth inning thanks in part to wildness by the NU pitching staff. After opening the inning with two walks and a single, the Dragons broke the game open with a grand slam. The Dragons eventually scored six runs in the inning on three hits with five walks and a wild pitch to make the score 9-3.
• Tiffin plated a run on an error in the top of the ninth to get the lead to seven.
• Jacob Rybicki rounded out the scoring in the bottom of the nine with a two run homer that made the final 10-5.
