RECAP: Northwood baseball finishes a 3-1 weekend against Hillsdale with a doubleheader sweep Sunday (February 20), taking game one 10-9 before winning the nightcap 5-2.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • For the third straight game in the series, Northwood go on the board in the top of the first thanks to a home run. Alex Jarobe connected on a three-run homer to left field to give the Timberwolves a 3-0 advantage.
  • Northwood put together another big inning in the third, which got going on a Rhett Evans RBI single to make the score 4-0.
  • The Timberwolves then added another run on an error, which was followed by a Myles Beale two-run single that put the Timberwolves on top 7-0.
  • Hillsdale did not go away, however, and responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third to cut the NU advantage to 7-3.
  • NU got one back in the top of the fourth on an error on a fielder's choice to get the lead back to five at 8-3.
  • David Jeffers keyed a two-run fifth inning for the Timberwolves, starting with an RBI triple.
  • Jeffers then came home on a Jacob Rybicki sacrifice fly to put the Timberwolves on top 10-3.
  • Hillsdale continued to fight back, scoring two in the fifth and three in the sixth to get within two at 10-8.
  • The Chargers plated one in the seventh to get within one and had the bases loaded with two outs, but Benji Anderson recorded the final out to close out the victory.

  • Northwood made it 4-4 with first inning home runs in the series, as Magno went deep to left to put the Timberwolves up 2-0 after one inning.
  • The Chargers loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the third, but were only able to score one run on a double play to make the score 2-1.
  • Northwood responded with a run in the fourth on a Blake Salamon RBI single to go back up by two at 3-1.
  • Hillsdale got a triple and a sac fly to cut the NU lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth.
  • NU got the lead back to two runs in the top of the seventh on a solo home run from Carson Longstreth.
  • Jarboe added another insurance run in the seventh with a two-out RBI single that made the score 5-2.
  • Jake Jekielek then came to retire the final three Hillsdale batters to give the Timberwolves the win.
