RECAP: Northwood baseball opened its spring trip to Florida by dropping a pair of games to Malone Friday (March 4), with the Pioneers winning game one 5-0 and taking game two 13-3.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Northwood took the early lead in game two. After a single by Jeffers and a double by Magno, Alex Jarboe had an RBI on an error to give the Timberwolves a 1-0 lead.
  • A two-out rally for Malone in the bottom of the first set the tone for the remainder of the game. The Pioneers put up two singles and a home run, scoring four runs to make the score 4-1 after one.
  • NU got one back in the top of the third on a Magno RBI double to get within two at 4-2.
  • The Pioneers responded in a big way, scoring two in the third, one in the fourth and six in the sixth to take an 13-2 lead.
  • Northwood did get one back in the top of the seventh thanks to an RBI single from Ben Clark to make the final 13-3.
