RECAP: Northwood baseball finishes their spring trip to Florida by going 1-1, defeating Wayne State (Neb.) 7-2 before falling to Minnesota-Crookston 9-3 Friday afternoon (March 11).

WAYNE STATE GAME HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • Evan Wiegand got Northwood on the board first in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single.
  • Northwood broke the game open in the fourth, bringing home five runs. EJ Clark started the scoring with an RBI single to make the score 2-0.
  • Jacob Rybicki extended the NU advantage to 3-0 with a bases loaded walk
  • Myles Beale brought home two with a single, which was followed by a Khale Showers sacrifice fly to put Northwood on top 6-0
  • The Wildcats got on the board with a run in the top of the fifth.
  • Rybicki got that run back in the bottom of the sixth by scoring on a wild pitch, making the score 7-1.
  • Wayne State scored one in the ninth to round out the scoring.

  • The first two innings of the game were the key to the win for the Golden Eagles, as they plated three in the first and four in the second to take a 7-0 lead.
  • Crookston then made it 9-0 with two in the fourth.
  • Northwood got one back in the fifth on an RBI double from David Jeffers.
  • Matt Magno drove home a run in the seventh on an RBI single, which was followed by a run-scoring single from Blake Salamon.
  • That proved to be the last run of the contest, making the final 9-3.
