RECAP: Northwood baseball rallies back in game two to earn a split at Davenport Monday (March 28), falling in game one 3-1 before taking game two 13-5.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Early offense was the key to the win for Davenport, as they scored all of their runs in the first two innings.
  • DU plated two in the first and one in the second to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Northwood got on the board in the top of the third on an RBI single from Myles Beale that scored David Jeffers.
  • The Timberwolves had numerous chances to score throughout the game, leaving 11 runners on base. NU also left the bases loaded twice and had runners in scoring position with less than two outs three separate times without scoring.
  • After allowing three runs in the first two innings, NU starter Jayden Dentler held the Panthers scoreless over the final four innings.

  • Davenport got off to another fast start in the top of the first, bringing home four runs for the early advantage.
  • The score remained 4-0 until the fifth when Rhett Evans got the Timberwolves on the board with an RBI single to make the score 4-1.
  • The Panthers responded with a run in the fifth that got their advantage back to four at 5-1.
  • After numerous chances throughout the day, Northwood broke through in the sixth, starting with a run on an error.
  • Beale followed with an RBI double, which was followed by a run coming home on another error that made the score 5-4.
  • Joey Johnston put Northwood on top for the first time with a two-run single, making the score 6-5.
  • David Jeffers then made it 8-5 thanks to a two-run single to finish off a seven-run sixth inning.
  • NU kept the momentum going in the seventh, scoring two on a Beale RBI double and a passed ball that put Northwood's advantage at 10-5.
  • Northwood put together another big frame in the ninth to clinch the victory. Beale kept his big game going with a sacrifice fly that got the lead to six at 11-5.
  • Evans and Johnston followed with RBI singles that made the final score 13-5.
