RECAP: Baseball rides big performances from Derek Clark and Khale Showers to an 8-1 win over GLIAC-leading Wayne State Friday afternoon (April 22). 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • NU took advantage of three hits in the bottom of the second to take the 1-0 lead. Carson Longstreth doubled down the left field line to score Khale Showers to put the Timberwolves on the board.
  • A sacrifice fly by Rhett Evans drove in one run in the third, putting the score at 2-0.
  • Evans added another sac fly in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead.
  • Khale Showers followed with a two-out, three-run homerun down the left field line to give the Timberwolves the 6-0 lead.
  • Northwood added two in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a Myles Beale RBI triple and a Showers sacrifice fly.
  • The Warriors got on the board in the eighth with an unearned run to make the final score 8-1.
  • Derek Clark was the story of the game on the hill for Northwood. He allowed only three hits and struck out twelve, throwing 80 strikes out of 111 pitches.
