RECAP: Baseball picked up a doubleheader sweep over Parkside Friday afternoon (April 29), taking game one 9-3 before taking game two 7-0

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • The Timberwolves drove in two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles from Khale Showers and Jacob Rybicki.
  • The Northwood offense exploded in the top of the fifth with six runs on four home runs.
  • Rhett Evans, Showers, and Rybicki all hit solo shots to extend the NU lead.
  • Joey Johnston then put the score at 8-0 with a 3-run homecrun to left center to round out a big fifth inning for Northwood.
  • An RBI groundout by Rybicki scored Myles Beale for the 9-0 NU advantage in the sixth.
  • The Rangers plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut into the Timberwolf lead.

  • Rybicki followed with a two-run double to make the score 3-0 in the fourth.
  • NU broke the game open in the sixth, starting with a RBI from Jeffers on an error.
  • Johnston followed with an RBI groundout to push the lead to 5-0.
  • Matt Magno finished the three-run rally in the sixth with a RBI single that made the score 6-0.
  • Showers got the advantage to 7-0 in the seventh with a run-scoring single from Showers.
  • That was all that NU started Jayden Dentler needed. He allowed just three hits – all singles – while striking out nine and walking zero.
