  • Northwood got going in the bottom of the second inning, starting with a two-run single by David Jeffers.
  • Jacob Rybicki followed with an RBI double to make the score 3-0.
  • Rybicki then stole third and came home on a throwing error to make the score 4-0.
  • NU added to its lead in the bottom of the third, as Rhett Evans had an RBI double to push the lead to 5-0.
  • A Matt Magno triple then brought home Evans to get the advantage to 6-0 after three innings.
  • The Lakers began to fight back in the top of fourth, bringing home four runs.
  • Northwood got one back in the bottom of the fourth on a Khale Showers sacrifice fly to send the game to the fifth with the Timberwolves leading 7-4.
  • That is where the score remained until the seventh, when Grand Valley State plated a pair of two-out runs to get within one at 7-6.
  • The Timberwolves did get one back right away in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Magno that made the score 8-6.
  • Northwood added insurance runs in the eighth, starting with a Joey Johnston sacrifice fly.
  • Showers and Evans followed with RBI singles to push the advantage to 11-6.
  • Cam Schuleke came in to get the final seven outs to close out the victory.
