RECAP: Northwood baseball sees late leads slip away in pair of losses at Quincy Saturday afternoon (February 4).

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • Northwood got the scoring going in the second inning with an RBI single from Caden Duryea to give NU a 1-0 lead.
  • After Quincy tied the game in the bottom of the second with a solo home run, the score remained 1-1 until the sixth when Duryea brought home another run. His double gave the Timberwolves a 2-1 advantage.
  • The Hawks added a pair of solo homers in the seventh to take their first lead of the day at 3-2.
  • Northwood responded in the top of the eighth with a home run of their own thanks to Blake Salamon. His two-run shot put the Timberwolves back on top 4-3.
  • Quincy came through in the eighth to earn the comeback win, plating four runs to take a 7-4 lead.
  • Northwood was unable to score in the ninth to take the victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Northwood started fast in game two thanks to Salamon once again. His three-run homer gave the Timberwolves the advantage in the opening inning.
  • Quincy got one back in the bottom of the first, only to see the Timberwolves hit a pair of homers in the top of the second. Duryea hit a solo shot, which was followed by a Myles Beale three-run blast that made the score 7-1.
  • As was the theme of the day, the Hawks used the long ball to get back into the game, using three home runs between the third and the sixth innings to score four runs and make the score 7-5.
  • Salamon continued his big day with his third homer of the day to get the lead to 8-5 heading to the final half inning of the game.
  • Quincy rallied for the win in the seventh, as the Hawks were able to plate a run before hitting a walk-off three-run homer to earn the comeback win 9-8.
