Baseball Pushes Win Streak To 14 With 21-3 Victory Over Grace Christian

RECAP: Northwood extends school-record winning streak to 14 with a 21-3 win over Grace Christian Thursday afternoon (April 6). 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Grace Christian started the game with a run in the first for an early 1-0 lead.
• Jacob Rybicki scored the first fun for the Timberwolves, taking advantage of a throwing error in the bottom of the first.
• RBI singles by Rhett Evans and Evan Wiegand then plated a run apiece. A two-RBI single from Rybicki gave NU the 6-1 advantage after one inning.
• Evans picked up another RBI in the bottom of the second, driving in Matt Magno to make the score 7-1.
• It was Evans once again who got the offense going in the fourth. His sacrifice fly to right field scored Magno. Wiegand followed with an RBI double to extend Northwood's lead to 9-1.
• The Tigers added one run on a NU fielding error, putting the score at 9-2 in the top of the fifth. 
• Grace Christian added a homerun in the top of the sixth, making the score 9-3.
• Northwood went up 13-3 in the sixth with four runs on zero hits. The Timberwolves scored on a pair of bases-loaded walks, followed by two runs scored on a fielding error.
• Maalik Houston added a sacrifice fly to make the score 14-3 in the bottom of the seventh.
• A two-run triple from Camden Fisher plated Matt Meyer and Alex Jarboe in the bottom of the eighth. Evans added an RBI groundout followed by a David Jeffers RBI single.
• Houston then reached home on a fielding error, followed by an RBI single from Ben Clark to give NU their 20th run of the contest.
• The Timberwolves pushed across a final run on a fielding error as NU scored seven in the bottom of the ninth and would win the contest with a final score of 21-3.
