Brad Baldwin Earns First Career Win As Baseball Downs Winona State 13-8 In 12 Innings

RECAP: Brad Baldwin picks up his first career victory as Northwood baseball head coach, as the Timberwolves rally back to earn a 13-8 win over Winona State in 12 innings Sunday (March 3).
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Winona State was the better team early in the game, scoring one in the second, one in the third and three more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.
- Northwood began its comeback in the top of the fifth on a two-run error to make the score 5-2.
- Blake Salamon cut the Warriors lead to one in the top of the sixth with a two-run homer that put the score at 5-4.
- Winona State responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth to get their lead back to two at 6-4.
- Northwood got rolling in the seventh inning, starting with an RBI single from Caden Duryea.
- Myles Beale followed with a two-run double to left that gave the Timberwolves their first lead of the day at 7-6.
- NU then made it 8-6 on an RBI groundout by Alex Jarboe to cap a four-run seventh.
- Winona State did not go away, taking advantage of two Northwood errors to plate a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 8-8.
- The score remained 8-8 until the 12th inning when the Timberwolves put together another big inning, starting with a Joey Johnston RBI single that brought home Camden Fisher.
- Ben Clark the followed with a two-run single to get the Northwood lead up to 11-8.
- Beale then drove home his third and fourth runs of the day with an RBI single to cap the scoring and give the Timberwolves the win.
- Jake Carroll tossed the final six innings of relief and did not allow an earned run while striking out seven.
