Jake Jekielek Named G-MAC Pitcher of the Week
MIDLAND, MICH. – Senior relief pitcher Jake Jekielek from the Northwood University baseball team has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Pitcher of the Week Monday (April 22).
Jekielek picked up a win and a save in three appearances out of the Northwood bullpen, finishing the week with a 0.00 ERA. Over his 5 1/3 innings pitched, Jekielek allowed four hits (all singles) and zero walks while striking out 11. He earned the win against Wayne State, allowing one hit over two innings while striking out three. Jekielek then picked up a save in game one of the weekend series against Hillsdale, tossing three shutout innings. He gave up two hits while striking out six. In his final appearance of the weekend against the Chargers, Jekielek threw 2/3 of an inning, with both batters being retired by strikeout.
Northwood will host Saginaw Valley at Dow Diamond Tuesday night (April 23). Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
