GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Cardinals used a strong start to the contest to jump out to an early lead, plating four runs on three hits in the top of the first inning.
  • Northwood responded in the bottom of the inning, beginning with a single to right field by Joey Johnston. Matt Magno delivered a home run to right field to make the score 4-2. 
  • Saginaw Valley added two runs in the top of the second to extend their advantage to 6-2.
  • A leadoff home run down the left field line by Drew Charters put Northwood within three runs during the bottom of the second inning.
  • An RBI single for SVSU in the top of the third put the score at 7-3.
  • Blake Salamon's 13th homerun of the season was hit to right field in the bottom of the third, as Northwood put the contest back within three.
  • The homeruns continued in the top of the fourth, as Saginaw added a solo shot and a fielder's choice RBI to extend their lead to 9-4.
  • After a high scoring start to the contest, both teams were held scoreless until the ninth. SVSU scored three runs to make the score 12-4.   
  • In the bottom of the ninth, Magno capped the scoring with an RBI double down the left field line to plate Johnston.
