Bio

Cole Sanderson joined the Northwood baseball coaching staff in the fall of 2020. Sanderson assists the program in many areas including working with the pitchers & the outfielders.

In his first two seasons at Northwood, NU went 60-40-1 and reached the NCAA Regionals in both seasons. In 2021, Sanderson guided the Northwood pitching staff to four All-GLIAC selections, including 2021 GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Derek Clark. In 2022, two NU pitchers earned All-GLIAC selections, including 2022 GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Jayden Dentler.

Prior to joining the coaching staff at Northwood, Sanderson spent two summers in the Northwoods League as the pitching coach for the Traverse City Pit Spitters. In his first season with the Pit Spitters, the pitching staff led the league in ERA and set the league record for shutouts in a season. The Pit Spitters won the Northwoods League championship in their inaugural season (2019), due in large part to the performance of their pitching staff.

During the 2019-2020 season, Sanderson spent time at Murray State College in Oklahoma, serving as the team pitching coach. While at MSC, he also ran the team strength & conditioning program, and assisted in the recruitment of players.

Sanderson spent his first two collegiate years playing for Kellogg Community College. During his sophomore season, Sanderson helped lead KCC to the regular season conference championship, along with the state championship.

Following his playing days at Kellogg, Sanderson moved on to Davenport University to finish his playing career. Following his junior season, he was named team captain for his senior year.

Originally from Macomb, Mich., Sanderson graduated from Dakota High School in 2015 where he played both football and baseball, earning academic and athletic recognition in both varsity sports. As a senior, he was named the baseball program’s first ever team captain.

Sanderson graduated from Davenport in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. He earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Northwood in 2022.
