Second Half Proves Costly In Football's 34-14 Loss At FIndlay

INSIDE THE GAME

  • The Northwood defense made the first big play of the contest on the second play from scrimmage. Mahlon Slaughter forced and recovered a fumble, which he returned 10 yards for a touchdown to give the Timberwolves a 7-0 lead 43 seconds into the game.
  • After the Oilers scored a touchdown, the Northwood defense came up with another big play to take the lead back. Mbaimba Tunkara made a similar play to Slaugher, recovering a fumble as forced by Jace Parrish and returning it for a score. Tunkara's 20-yard touchdown made the score 14-7 late in the first quarter.
  • Findlay had chances throughout the remainder of the half but were only able to put up one field goal, making the Northwood lead 14-10 at the break.
  • A Northwood turnover set up the Oilers to take their first lead of the day. A lost fumble gave Findlay the ball at the NU 34. Four plays later, UF found the end zone to take a 17-14 lead.
  • The score remained that way until the fourth quarter, which the Oilers controlled. Findlay put up 17 unanswered points in the fourth to make the final score 34-14.
  • Northwood's offense had missed chances for points throughout the game, having three drives of at least seven plays result in zero points.
