Men's Basketball Defeats Delta College 117-52 In Exhibition Contest

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's basketball team picked up a 117-52 exhibition win over Delta College Sunday afternoon (November 1).

For the second straight exhibition game, the Timberwolves offense was very strong in the opening half. NU shot 65.8 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, going 25-38 from the floor. The Timberwolves also shot 60.0 percent from 3-point range (9-15). Meanwhile, Delta shot 26.7 percent (8-30) overall. Northwood's 44-point lead at the break (68-24) was its biggest in the half.

The Timberwolves maintained control after the break, not allowing the Pioneers any closer than 42 points. The Timberwolves biggest lead of the game came with 6:50 remaining – 67 points (109-42).

For the game, Northwood shot 55.8 percent overall (43-77). The Timberwolves ended up at 51.7 percent from 3-point range (15-29). Delta finished at 27.4 percent overall (17-62) and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc (7-23).

Three Timberwolves finished in double figures, led by Maurice Jones (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill). He finished with 19 points (6-6 from the floor), six rebounds, six assists and five steals in 17 minutes of action. Nick Spitzley (Pewamo, Mich./Pewamo-Westphalia) came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-7 shooting, while Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) added 14 points. Ten different players finished the game with at least seven points.

Northwood will finish the exhibition portion of their schedule with a game at Xavier Saturday (November 1). Game time is set for 2 p.m.
