Men's Basketball Falls At Ohio Dominican 93-54

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Northwood University men's basketball team dropped a 93-54 contest at Ohio Dominican Saturday afternoon (January 9).

Northwood falls to 9-5 overall, 5-3 in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican improves to 5-9 overall, 2-6 in the GLIAC.

After falling behind early, Northwood fought back to take a 17-13 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the opening half.   That is when ODU took over for the rest of the game. The Panthers out-scored Northwood 29-11 the rest of the half to open up a 42-28 lead at the break. ODU shot 56.7 percent from the floor (17-30) while holding Northwood to a 27.0 percent mark (10-37).

Northwood scored the opening two points of the second half, but Ohio Dominican dominated the rest of the way. ODU scored the next 14 points to go up by 26 at 56-30. The Timberwolves got no closer than 24 the rest of the way and the 39 point final margin matched the biggest deficit of the game.

Overall, the Timberwolves shot just 23.0 percent from the floor for the game (17-74). Northwood made two of their first three pointers but made just three of their final 28 attempts to finish at 5-31 overall (16.1 percent). Ohio Dominican ended up at 60.9 percent (39-64) overall and 51.9 percent from 3-point range (14-27).

Maurice Jones (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill) led Northwood with 14 points. PJ Weaver (Dayton, Ohio/Meadowdale) came off the bench to finish with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Northwood will travel to Hillsdale Thursday night (January 14). Game time is set for 8 p.m.
