Men's Basketball Loses To Ferris State 83-76

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's basketball team dropped an 83-76 contest to Ferris State Thursday night (January 21).

Northwood falls to 10-7 overall, 6-5 in the GLIAC. Ferris State improves to 14-3 overall, 8-3 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves opened up an early lead, going up by eight points in the opening seven minutes. Ferris State fought back, eventually taking a 38-37 lead at the break. Northwood finished at 41.7 percent from the floor (15-36), while Ferris State shot 45.2 percent (14-31). NU made four more 3-pointers than FSU (5-1), but the Bulldogs made seven more free throws (9-2).

Ferris State used a 17-4 run to open up a 13 point midway through the second half. NU cut the margin down to five in the final two minutes, but that is as close as the Timberwolves got.

NU finished the game at 35.3 percent overall (24-68) compared to Ferris State at 47.4 percent (27-57). Northwood stayed close thanks to making five more 3-pointers (9-4) than FSU. The Timberwolves also went 19-20 from the foul line (95.0 percent).

Four Timberwolves finished in double figures, led by Maurice Jones (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill) with 18. Jermaine Myers (Ajax, Ontario) had 17, while Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) totaled 15. Brad Schaub (Marlette, Mich.) had 11 points and six rebounds off the bench for Northwood.

The Timberwolves will travel to Grand Valley State Saturday night (January 23). Game time is set for 8 p.m.
