Men's Basketball Defeats Wisconsin-Parkside 81-68

RECAP: Northwood uses a big second half performance to pull away from Wisconsin-Parkside 81-68 Tuesday night (December 19).
FIRST HALF
- The opening half proved to be tight throughout, as neither team led by more than five points.
- A 3-pointer in the final seconds by the Rangers made the score 41-37 in favor of Wisconsin-Parkside.
- Both teams finished the opening half at 50.0 from the floor – UWP went 14-28 while NU went 15-30.
- Wisconsin-Parkside earned the lead thanks to their 3-point shooting, as the Rangers went 7-11 from beyond the arc in the half (63.6 percent). NU went 3-9 (33.3 percent)
SECOND HALF
- Northwood was a different team after the break. An 11-0 run broke open a tie game to put the Timberwolves on top 57-46 with 11:25 remaining.
- UWP cut the lead down to five with eight minutes remaining (59-54), but that is as close as the Rangers would get the rest of the way.
- Northwood pushed the advantage to as many as 13 on their way to the win.
- The Timberwolves' offense actually shot a lower percentage in the second half, finishing at 44.8 percent (13-29). But the Timberwolves had a big performance at the foul line, going 15-17 after the break (88.2 percent).
- Another key to the second half was NU shutting down the Rangers from 3-point range. UWP went 1-5 from beyond the arc (20.0 percent) and 8-24 overall (33.3 percent).
