Men's Basketball Defeats Saginaw Valley 68-64

RECAP: Northwood finishes strong in posting their sixth-straight win, defeating Saginaw Valley 68-64 Saturday night (January 27).
FIRST HALF
- Saginaw Valley scored 15 of the first 22 points of the game to take the early advantage.
- Northwood fought back to eventually take the lead 27-26 with under six minutes remaining in the half.
- The score was eventually tied 38-38 at the break.
- Northwood shot a blistering 66.7 percent from the floor in the half (16-24) overall and 62.5 percent from 3-point range (5-8). But the Timberwolves committed 11 turnovers in the half to keep the Cardinals close.
- SVSU finished at 45.2 percent in the opening 20 minutes (14-31) but had just three turnovers.
SECOND HALF
- Saginaw Valley built the lead up to nine (53-44) just under 10 minutes into the second half.
- NU used an 8-0 in less than two minutes to cut the advantage to one with 6:50 remaining in the game.
- With 3:30 remaining, the Cardinals led 62-56 when the Timberwolves finished the game strong.
- Northwood scored 12 of the final 16 points to close out the victory.
- While the Timberwolves cooled off from the floor in the second half (11-26 – 42.3 percent), NU committed just five turnovers after the break.
- Saginaw Valley shot 35.7 percent in the half (10-28) while committing nine turnovers.
