Men's Basketball Loses At Parkside 82-74

RECAP: Parkside takes game of runs, defeating Northwood 82-74 Thursday night (January 3). 

FIRST HALF

  • The opening 14 minutes were tight – with the biggest lead for either team standing at four points.
  • Parkside led 26-24 with 6:11 remaining in the half when the Rangers made a push – UWP scored 13 of the final 17 points to take a 39-28 lead at the break.
  • Northwood finished the half at 40.7 percent (11-27) while going just 1-11 from 3-point range (9.1 percent). NU also committed nine turnovers in the opening 20 minutes
  • The Rangers shot it well, going 14-18 overall (50.0 percent) and 7-13 from 3-point range (53.8 percent).

SECOND HALF

  • Both teams made runs in the second half, starting with Northwood. The Timberwolves scored 13 of the first 20 points of the half to cut the lead down to 46-41.
  • Parkside responded, putting up 18 of the next 22 points take their biggest lead of the game at 64-45 with 10:20 remaining.
  • Northwood then scored 16 of the next 20 points to get within seven at 68-61, but that is as close as they would get.
  • The Timberwolves shot 47.4 percent from the floor in the second half (18-38), including 6-11 from 3-point range (54.5 percent).
  • Parkside continued to shoot well after the break, going 11-21 overall (52.4 percent) while making 45.5 percent from beyond the arc (5-11).
