Men's Basketball Falls in Overtime At Saginaw Valley 92-82
OVERVIEW – SAGINAW VALLEY
SCORE: Saginaw Valley State Cardinals 92, Northwood Timberwolves 82 (OT)
RECORDS: Northwood (3-5, 1-2 GLIAC), Saginaw Valley (5-3, 2-1 GLIAC)

RECAP: Despite a career-high 33 points from Jack Ammerman, Saginaw Valley controls the second half and overtime in a 92-82 win over Northwood men's basketball Thursday night (December 9).
FIRST HALF
- Northwood was the better team in the opening half, holding the advantage for just under 17 minutes.
- The Timberwolves got lead up to as many as 10 late in the half before holding a 40-32 edge at the break.
- Northwood finished the first half going 15-35 from the floor, good for 42.9 percent. The Timberwolves did shoot it well from 3-point range (5-9) and the foul line (5-6).
- Saginaw Valley finished the half at 37.8 percent overall (14-37). The Cardinals struggled from the 3-point line in the half, making just 1-11. SVSU was 3-6 from the foul line.
SECOND HALF
- Both teams made runs in the second half, starting with the Cardinals. SVSU scored 11 of the first 16 points after the break to cut the NU advantage to 45-43.
- The Timberwolves responded by scoring 10 of the next 12 points to go up 55-45 with 11:43 remaining.
- SVSU then chipped away at the lead, using a 16-4 run to take the lead 68-64 with under five minutes remaining.
- Northwood trailed 79-76 with under 30 seconds remaining when Jack Ammerman connected on a contested triple from the corner to level the score.
- The Cardinals were unable to make the game-winner, sending the game to overtime.
- Saginaw Valley jumped up to 55.2 percent from the floor in the second half (16-29). The Cardinals were 3-7 from 3-point range and 12-16 from the foul line.
- Northwood was 14-33 overall in the second, good for 42.4 percent. NU was 5-11 from beyond the arc and 6-6 from the foul line.
OVERTIME
- The Cardinals dominated the start of overtime, scoring the first 11 points of the extra session.
- NU's first points of overtime did not come until there was 1:07 remaining in the game.
- Northwood was just 1-6 from the floor in overtime (16.7 percent), while SVSU made all four of their field goal attempts.
