Men's Basketball Drops 69-55 Contest At No. 13 Hillsdale

RECAP: Northwood men's basketball ended 2021 with a 69-55 loss at No. 13 Hillsdale Monday afternoon (December 20).
FIRST HALF
- Northwood got off to a great start offensively, making their first seven shots of the game for the early 14-10.
- Hillsdale picked up their defense the remainder of the half, allowing NU to go make just four of their final 17 shots (23.5 percent) over the last 14:30 of the half.
- The Timberwolves did lead 21-17 with 9:20 remaining in the half when the Chargers made a run, scoring 20 of the next 23 points to go up 37-24.
- Hillsdale eventually led 39-27 at the break.
- Northwood finished the first half shooting 45.8 percent overall, making 11 of their 24 attempts. NU was 1-3 from 3-point range and 4-6 from the foul line.
- Hillsdale made 14-29 from the floor, good for 48.3 percent. The key to the HC lead was the 3-point line, where the Chargers were 6-12. Hillsdale was 5-8 from the foul line in the opening 20 minutes.
SECOND HALF
- The Chargers put the game away in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, out-scoring Northwood 14-4 to open up 53-31 lead.
- Hillsdale pushed their lead to 68-42 before the Timberwolves finished the game strong, going on a 13-1 run to finish the game.
- Northwood fell back to 28.9 percent from the floor in the second half, going 11-38 overall. The Timberwolves were much better from the outside in the final 20 minutes, going 5-12 from 3-point range.
- The Chargers were 11-23 from the floor after the break, making 11-23 overall. HC was just 1-5 from 3-point range but did go 7-10 from the foul line.
