Men's Basketball Falls To Lake Superior State 81-52

SCORE: Lake Superior State Lakers 81, Northwood Timberwolves 52

RECAP: Lake Superior State rides a dominant second half performance to earn an 81-52 win at Northwood Saturday afternoon (February 12).
FIRST HALF
- Northwood started the game strong, scoring eight of the first 10 points of the contest in the opening three minutes.
- LSSU responded quickly, scoring 20 of the next 26 points to take a 22-12 lead with 10:43 remaining.
- The Lakers lead grew to as many as 12 in the first half, but NU responded to get back within two at 33-31.
- Lake Superior State scored the final five points of the half to lead 38-31 at the break.
- Northwood ended the first half shooting very well, making 13-22 overall for 59.1 percent. NU was 1-4 from the 3-point line and 4-6 form the free throw line.
- LSSU also had a good shooting half as well, shooting 53.6 percent overall from the floor (15-28). The Lakers were 3-8 from the 3-point line and 5-6 on free throws.
SECOND HALF
- The LSSU lead was 47-38 with 15:15 remaining when the Lakers took over.
- Over the next 6:48, Lake Superior State out-scored Northwood 26-2 to push their lead to 73-40.
- The Timberwolves got no closer than 28 the rest of the way.
- Northwood fell back on offense in the second half, going 8-26 overall (30.8 percent). NU was 2-11 from the 3-point line and 3-9 from the foul line.
- The Lakers had another strong half shooting after the break, going 14-27 overall (51.9 percent). LSSU was 3-10 from the 3-point line while making all 12 of their free throw attempts.
