Men's Basketball Drops Tough 84-78 Overtime Contest To Davenport
OVERVIEW – DAVENPORT
SCORE: Davenport Panthers 84, Northwood Timberwolves 78

FIRST HALF
- Northwood played well early on, leading 14-10 with 12:02 remaining in the first half.
- DU responded with an 11-2 run to take a 21-16 lead with 6:21 remaining.
- The game was tied 26-26 with less than two minutes remaining when Davenport scored seven of the final nine points to make the score 33-28 at the break.
- Northwood ended the opening at 33.3 percent, going 10-30 overall. NU was 1-7 from 3-point range and 7-7 at the foul line.
- Davenport was 13-36 overall, good for 36.1 percent. DU's 3-point shooting was key to their lead, making 5-10 from beyond the arc. The Panthers made both of their free throws.
SECOND HALF
- DU started the second half strong, going up 44-34 with 14:25 remaining.
- Northwood responded with a big run, scoring 23 of the next 27 points to take a 57-48 lead with 7:26 remaining.
- The Timberwolves led for nearly the remainder of the game, still holding a 65-62 lead with the ball and under 10 seconds remaining.
- Northwood then missed the front end of a one-and-one, which gave the ball back to the Panthers.
- NU then fouled with a three point lead and three seconds remaining, which was followed by a made free throw and an intentional miss from Davenport. DU corralled the loose ball and converted on the game-tying layup with 0.8 seconds remaining, which sent the game to overtime.
- The Timberwolves jumped up to 40.0 percent shooting from the floor in the second half, making 12-30 overall. NU was 4-11 from 3-point range and 9-11 from the foul line.
- Davenport was 9-26 from the floor in the second half, good for 34.6 percent overall. The Panthers were 1-7 from 3-point range and 13-15 at the foul line.
OVERTIME
- The teams exchanged baskets for the opening three minutes of the extra frame, as the score was tied 74-74 with under two minutes remaining.
- But Davenport, which had only made one 3-pointer in the second half, got hot from beyond the arc in the extra period. A pair of 3-pointers in just over a minutes was a key part of an 8-2 run that put the Panthers up 82-76 on their way to a six-point overtime victory.
- Both teams had strong offensive showings in overtime – Davenport shot 70.0 percent (7-10). They were 3-5 from the 3-point line and 2-4 at the foul line.
- Northwood was 5-9 from the floor in OT, good for 55.6 percent. The Timberwolves went 1-4 from the 3-point line and 2-2 at the foul lin.
