Gabe Blalock joined the Northwood men's basketball staff in the fall of 2021. He will serve as an assistant coach for Lonnie Griffin as well as the head junior varsity coach. 

"Gabe is a Northwood alum who played on the Junior Varsity team," said Griffin. "His knowledge of myself and the JV program will be a huge benefit.”

As the JV coach, Blalock will be responsible for recruiting and in-game coaching for the program.

Blalock's experience with Northwood and Lonnie Griffin goes back to his early collegiate career, as Blalock played at Delta College when Griffin served as the Pioneers' head coach. After two seasons at Delta, Blalock transferred to Northwood to finish his collegiate career on the JV team for the 2017-18 season. His playing career started in high school at Midland High School, where he played from 2009-13.

Blalock has also spent time as a travel team coach for Midland Select at both the seventh and eighth grade levels. He also spent a pair of seasons as hte eighth grade boys' assistant coach at Shephard Middle School.
