Michael Gombos enters his fifth year of college coaching as he joins the Northwood Men’s Basketball program for the 2023-24 season.

Gombos comes to us after spending the previous two years down in Fulton, Missouri at William Woods University working under Charles Belt. At WWU, Gombos oversaw a lot of the program’s responsibilities as the staff’s primary assistant. Those responsibilities included day to day operations/logistics, player development, academic progress, recruiting, scouting, practice planning, nutrition, social media management, community engagement and more.

Prior to his time in Missouri, Gombos spent two years in the NJCAA at Grand Rapids Community College and USC Salkehatchie respectively. Gombos brings a lot of youth and excitement to the Men’s Basketball staff, along with a diverse network spreading all across the Midwest and Southern regions of the country. 

Born and raised in Troy, Michigan, Gombos is a Grand Valley State University alumni after graduating with his Bachelor’s degree inCommunications with an emphasis in Advertising & Public Relation. While in Missouri, he furthered his education at William Woods by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration
