Men's Golf Finishes 10th At GLIAC North Invitational

SOUTH HAVEN, MICH. – The Northwood University men's golf team placed 10th at the GLIAC North Invitational Sunday afternoon (September 21).

The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Hawkshead Links. The course played as a 7,003 yard, par 72.

Under difficult conditions, Northwood shot team scores of 303 and 313 to finish at 616 overall. Grand Valley State was the overall winner at 593, followed by Malone and Wayne State at 600. A total of 14 teams took part in the event.

Matt Garland (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) was the top performer for the Timberwolves, carding matching rounds of 75 to tie for 14th overall. Competing as an individual, Justin Phillips (Owosso, Mich.) tied for 20th at 151 (77-74). Paul Ostby (Mt. Morris, Mich./Mott CC) finished in a tie for 35th overall at 154 (75-79). A total of 87 players took part in the event.

Northwood will compete at the NCAA Fall Regional September 29-30.
