Men's Golf Places Eighth At The Tiffin Bash At The Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Northwood University men's golf team opened its spring season by placing eighth out of 16 teams at the Tiffin Battle at the Beach Friday and Saturday afternoon (March 13-14).

The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the TPC of Myrtle Beach The course played at 6,754 yards and was a par 72.

The Timberwolves shot team scores of 320 and 313 to finish at 633 overall. Indianapolis was the overall winner at 599, followed by St. Thomas Aquinas at 605 and Queens (N.C.) at 609.

Leading the way for Northwood was Matt Benson (Grand Ledge, Mich.).  He carded rounds of 81 and 73 to finish with a 10-over par total of 154. That tied him for 12th overall. Paul Ostby (Mt. Morris, Mich./Mott CC) tied for 18th overall at 155 (78-77). A total of 89 players took part in the event.  

Northwood will compete at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational March 29-30 in Columbus, Indiana.
