Men's Golf Ties For 22nd At The Jewell

BATAVIA, OHIO - The Northwood University men's golf team tied for 22nd at the Jewel at Elks Run Saturday afternoon (April 4).

The event is the third NCAA Regional Tournament of the year. The tournament was a two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Elks Run Golf Club. The course played as a par 70 (6,366 yards).

Northwood shot team scores of 300 and 306 to finish at 606. Indianapolis was the overall winner at 580, followed by Missouri-St. Louis and Tiffin at 581. The team event was extremely tight – 10 teams finished within eight shots of first place. Northwood was less than 10 shots away from moving up nine spots in the standings.

Paul Ostby (Mt. Morris, Mich./Mott CC) led the way for Northwood. He carded rounds of 75 and 73 to finish in a tie for 35th overall. Matt Benson (Grand Ledge, Mich.) tied for 59th at 151 (75-76).

Northwood will travel to the fourth NCAA Regional tournament April 12-13.
