Men's Golf Places Third At The Purgatory Regional #4

NOBLESVILLE, IND. – The Northwood University men's golf team placed third out of 31 teams at the Purgatory Regional #4 Sunday and Monday (April 12-13).

The two-day, 36-hole event was held at the Purgatory Golf Club. The course played as a 7,182 yard, par 72.

Northwood carded rounds of 292 and 296 to finish at 588 overall. Indianapolis was the overall winner at 583, followed by Grand Valley State at 585.

Leading the way for Northwood was sophomore Matt Garland (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview). He finished with an even-par total of 144, carding rounds of 73 and 71. That total was good for a tie for fourth overall. Robert Marsh (Bay City, Mich./Delta College) and Paul Ostby (Mt. Morris, Mich./Mott CC) each tied for 15th overall at 146. A total of 155 players took part in the event.

Northwood will compete at the GLIAC South Tournament April 18-19.
