Men's Golf Earns 44-Stroke Tournament Victory At Cedarville Invitational

BEAVERCREEK, OHIO – The Northwood University men's golf team turned in a dominating performance in winning the Yellow Jacket Invitational Tuesday afternoon (October 20).

The two-day, 36-hole event was hosted by Cedarville University at the Country Club of the North. The course played as a 7,071 yard, par-72.

Northwood shot team scores of 286 and 291 to finish with a one-over par total of 577. That two-round total is believed to be the lowest for a tournament in program history. Ohio Dominican placed second in the event, 44 strokes behind Northwood at 621 (310-311). A total of six teams took part in the event.

The Timberwolves placed four players in the top five of the event, led by tournament winner Paul Ostby (Mt. Morris, Mich./Mott CC). He carded a career-best total of 139, shooting rounds of 70 and 69 to finish at five-under par. Matt Benson (Grand Ledge, Mich.) also had a career-low total, finishing at three-under par (71-70). Kory Roberts (Battle Creek, Mich./Grand Rapids C.C.) was fourth at 146 (73-73), while Matt Garland (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) tied for fifth at 151 (72-79). A total of 41 players took part in the event.

Northwood has now complete the fall portion of their schedule.
