Men's Golf Advances To GLIAC Championship Match Play

OVERVIEW – GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS (STROKE PLAY)

RECAP: Men's Golf advances to medal match play semifinals by placing fourth at the stroke play portion of the GLIAC Championships Friday and Saturday (April 15-16).

INSIDE THE EVENT

  • Northwood shot team scores of 291 and 302 to finish at 593 overall, which was good for fourth place in the stroke play portion of the event.
  • Davenport had the top score in stroke play at 562 (281-281), followed by Grand Valley State (288-295=583) and Ferris State (285-299=584).
  • SVSU (594) and Wayne State (595) were edge out of a spot in the final four by Northwood.
  • A total of 10 teams took part in the championship.
  • This format of the event takes the top-four teams after 36-holes of stroke play and advances them to the medal match play semifinal round. Medal match play consists of the five individual players each team's lineup facing off in one-on-one matches. First team to win three matches takes the overall victory.
  • Northwood will take on top-seeded Davenport in one semifinal, while No. 2 GVSU will face third-ranked Ferris State.
  • Those semifinals will tee off Sunday morning (April 17), with the finals following in afternoon.
