Men's Soccer Earns 2-1 Win Over Walsh

CANTON, OHIO - The Northwood University men's soccer team defeats Walsh 2-1 at Milazzo Field on Sunday afternoon (September 21).

The Timberwolves improve to 4-0-1 on the season, 2-0-1 in the GLIAC. The Cavaliers drop to 3-2 on the year, 1-2 in the GLIAC.

NU got on the board early, as Gino Pasquali (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) recorded his second goal of the season from junior Adam Thomas (High Wycombe, England / John Hampden) at 5:03. Walsh netted the equalizer in the 20th minute. Northwood was able to get off 11 shots in the first half, to go along with two corner kicks.

Junior James DeCosemo (Stokesley, England) redirected a ball from Pasquali inside the box scoring the go-ahead goal at 47:45. For the game, NU outshot the Cavaliers 16-7 and held an advantage in corner kicks 4-3. Keeper Johannes Sterobo (Odense, Denmark / Tornbjerg) registered four saves in the match. Papsquali finished with a goal and an assist, while Mayowa Olufeko (Welling, England) and DeCosemo each tallied four shots.

NU is now tied with Saginaw Valley for second place in the GLIAC, just behind Tiffin. The Timberwolves travel back to Ohio next weekend, to compete against Findlay on Friday (September 26) and Tiffin on Sunday (September 28).
