Men's Soccer Earns 2-1 Win Over No. 16 Tiffin

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's soccer team defeated No. 16 Tiffin 2-1 Friday afternoon (Sept. 25)

The Timberwolves improve to 4-1 overall, 3-1 in the GLIAC. The Dragons fall to 4-2-2 on the year, 2-2 in the GLIAC.

In another aggressive match, Mayowa Olufeko (London, England / Welling) put the Timberwolves on the board after he stole the ball from Tiffin's defense, dribbled through the box and chipped a shot past the keeper from inside the 6-yard line in the 32nd minute. Tiffin netted the equalizer in the less than five minutes later on a header off a free kick to take a 1-1 tie into halftime.

Despite hitting the crossbar twice throughout the match, play remained tied until the 49th minute. NU earned a penalty kick at 48:17, as Dalton Amez (Macomb, Mich. / Chippewa Valley) was taken down in the penalty box. Keaton Levock (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Chippewa Valley) converted the PK for what would end up being the game-winning goal.

Northwood out-shot Tiffin (13-11), while the Dragons recorded more corner kicks (5-4). NU keeper Johannes Sterobo (Odense, Denmark / Tornbjerg) recorded four saves as he improved to 4-1 on the year.
